The surgery was a success and I am feeling much better. I am still very limited to the amount of time I can sit and craft so it will be a while until I'm Back fully.

Thank you for all the nice cards I have received while being off. They have sure brightened my days.

Saying goodbye for a while....

This has not been a great week. My precious Mother in Law had a stroke early Friday and passed away on Monday morning. We have made either 4 or 5 trips to the southern coast, about 200 miles each way in the last two weeks. With that being said I am scheduled for surgery on my back on the 28th and will not be able to sit and make cards for a while.

I seem to have lost the spark to do them right now. My emotions are so raw that it hurts to think...all I want to do is cry.

Please send your thoughts and prayers to my dear husband and throw one in for me too!!! Love to my online family and friends....

Growing up in the family I did was so wonderful. Every year we would take that family vacation. Living in Oregon was such a blessing as the coast was usually the point of destination.

I have very fond memories of playing in the sand with my brother when we were quite young, then as we got older I have memories of friends going too. By the time I was a teenager, my mom and I would talk walks on the beach and talk for hours about life and the future and HOPE. One of the things she always said was never give up. Tomorrow will be a better day. I have tried to live with that direction in my mind. Oh how I wish I could go back to those days and get a redo, really appreciate the wisdom of Mom and Dad. (R.I.P.)

I made this card to have on hand. There are times when a get well card is not appropriate and a thinking of you is not enough, or even when someone is just having a rough time with life.

I love the ocean and lighthouses.

Copic Color Challenge #59

I made this card for my daughters 21st Birthday. We got her as a 12 year old and adopted her 2 years later. This image reminded me so much of her great love of shopping. She would sit and make a list for a month before we would go get back to school clothes. I like the colors for the challenge that were chosen for this week,

I think they go so well with each other. I never would have used them together without the challenge.

Personal Note...Upcoming surgery

I went to a neurosurgeon last week and he said I needed back surgery...Well I said thanks for your opinion, but this is my back and I want a second opinion. I finished that evaluation on the 6th of April and I am scheduled for surgery on the 28th. I will be unable to make cards and spend much time on the computer for about 4-6 weeks, so please excuse my absence and lack of responses.

Somebody likes to sit in moms lap while I try to type, stamp, do anything....but she is cute. About 6 months old now and Turbo really fits her. She is the fastest dog I have ever seen. She can grab something off of the floor and be gone in a flash!!

For the sketch Challenge

For Roger

My youngest son had more will power in his little finger than I do in my whole body. He has been going to the gym at least 4 days a week, watching his diet and has lost over 40 pounds in less than 2 months (yes with doctors consults). I am so proud of him.
I really loved the card that Brandi made here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...;ppuser=148467

So heres the whole story. I went looking for serene spring first, then I spilled and entire 20oz cup of coffee on my carpeted floor, in the punch box, and all over the outside of about 40 sets of stamps....clean up time.

Looked for serene spring..still couldnt find it. Found soft summer instead..that works,

So I changed the image, changed the colors, changed the layout just a bit.

I kept the scallops with holes. Now I dont have a punch for that so I paper pierced all the scallops one by one. I made a mistake when punching the scallops to start with...really liked the look so I added more.

Brandi's card base is gray so I used 3 shade of light gray copics for the shadows of the dogwood.

copic colors used:
Flowers-R00-RV00-RV10-RV02-Y02
Leaves-G24-YG23
Stem-E99
Shading-C00-N1-N2
