Sunday 12/28/08

Good Sunday evening!!

Today has been relaxing after going shopping yesterday. We just sat around watching a marathon of HOUSE

The challenge for today was the FEATURED STAMPER

I cased her card located here

Stamps: Dr Peanut--OUR CRAFT LOUNGE
Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black
Paper: Rose Red, Neehan Solar White, SU Basic Black
Raspberry Twist DSP-Stampin Up!-Release date 1/19/09
Retired SU Ribbon
Martha Stewart punch
All coloring with Copic Markers

Saturday 12/27/08

OMG...The snow is going away so we decided to go to town and do some shopping....The local store was so packed that there was a person every 3 square feet. It was like black Friday on Steroids.

When I got home I had a lot of fun with the challenge for today. It was an inspirational challenge and here are the cards that I made. I was into the spring theme and these new stamps from OUR CRAFT LOUNGE

Friday 12/26/08

Today was warmer....finally. The great thaw has started. The cars are still under about 6 inches of snow..Our plans are tomorrow to get out and do some shopping.

I spent a lot of the day making cards..anything but Christmas cards

I really like this bird from Martha Stewart. He was colored with various Copic markers. I used the Fern stamp from a new hostess set called ORGANIC GRACE from Stampin' Up!. It will be available on January 19, 2009 with the launch of the new Spring/Summer Idea Book and Catalog. The sentiment is from SINCERE SALUTATIONS.

This one is a recycled card that I received. I loved the picture so much that I had to make a birthday card from it. I trimmed the picture then coated it with tombo all purpose glue. Added clear EP, melted with the heat gun, added veramark and another layer of clear ep. This is sorta like the cracked glass method without the freezing or cracking. By doing this it gave it texture and sheen

.

I love my new top note die. I used it for the main frame if this card, I added Encore gold ink with the jumbo wheel leaves ala carte.

I used the Big Shot with nesties ovals for the main LOVE image.

I created the lettering using the computer and the heart was made with Seasonal Icons from Stampin' Up!

The Weather in Canby, Oregon

As of this morning it is warming slightly...34 degrees with a very light rain (NON FROZEN) falling. We have about 12-15 inches of snow on the ground which guarantees snow on the ground for Christmas Day.

I will be so happy to have about half of this gone. We do however need a slow thaw so the rivers dont get to high.

Unless things change rapidly or we go back to freezing this will be the last weather post.

Sketch Challenge

Today's challenge was really a lot of fun. We were given a layout to use and go from there.

Here is the first card I created.

All papers and stamps are Stampin' Up!
Stamps: A flower for all Seasons, Hugs & Wishes

Snow Update

I has quit snowing for the evening....BUT it is scheduled to start again about 3 AM. The news is predicting another 3-5 inches at our level.

My poor husband had cabin fever so badly he dug the truck out to go to the store...even thought we could have lasted another few days.

More snow and freezing rain are set to hit and then we should thaw out...Wish us luck

One more for the Color Challenge

I thought I would throw together one more for the color challenge today. These colors remind me of Spring/Easter...

Color Challenge for this week!!!

The colors from this week is So Saffron, Orchid Opulence, and Cameo Coral. I submitted this when I made a card a few days ago that I really liked the outcome

Here is the second one for the challenge today:

SNOW UPDATE

Well this morning was a real shock...they said today would be clear..not it was still snowing some. As of this afternoon it has quit snowing and the temperature is 32 degrees. There is some melting of the snow on the roof, but other than that we are still buried.

We canceled the trip to the MIL's for Christmas day as we are suppose to have more snow tonight and during the day tomorrow. I guess we will go after the snow quits...say in a few weeks.

Thanks for listening
Have a great day!!

The Artic Blast

The Arctic Blast continues...
It is now 4 PM in Oregon and it is still snowing although very slightly.....I have taken quite a few pictures and uploaded them to my webshots gallery.

STILL SNOWING

I woke up this morning and cant believe it. IT IS STILL SNOWING....GLOBAL WARMING MY A$$.

We have over a foot of snow on the ground and it is still coming down. The idea of having a very rare White Christmas is cool, but this year all I want is clear roads so I can go visit family. It's beginning to look like that may not happen.

Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by.

Sunday evening-12/21/08

It just keeps snowing....below is the weather forecast for the next few days here in the Pacific NW...

This one was taken about 3:30 today in the middle of a snow downpour.

Forecast:

Sunday December 21, 2008, 5:15 p.m.
Good Evening from the First Alert Storm Center

The Portland area is under a Winter Storm Warning until 10 am Monday for snow and freezing rain. Another 2-7" of snow will fall over the northwest Oregon and southwest Washington by Monday when the heavier snow will end and turn to snow showers. Highs Monday will struggle up to near 30-dergees in Portland where the east wind continues to blow, but should make the mid 30s farther south. After a break early Tuesday, a new storm brings more snow to the Portland area Tuesday night and on Christmas Eve. Temperatures will remain cold until next weekend.

Sunday--Snow and Featured Stamper

Remember what I said about Oregon snow...FORGET IT!!!
This morning we started out with about 9 inches of snow....then we had freezing rain, sheet, ice pellets, more snow, more freezing rain, more snow...It is so pretty, but its cold outside and the poor dog can barely go out to pee.

Today was Featured Stamper day at SCS. Here is the link to all the details about the challenge.

I made 3 cards for this today. None of which are anywhere as good as Paula's wonderful work. All details regarding the card I cased are in my gallery at SCS.

Saturday's Inspirational Challenge

Oh yeah...That snow started falling again about 3 AM and this is what we woke up to in Saturday Morning. It was about and inch deep and quite pretty.

By Saturday evening it was still snowing...in fact it snowed solid for over 12 hours..we now have about 7 inches and it is beautiful.

The challenge for today was to be inspired to create. Here is the link to the challenge

I was inspired by a piece of fabric with stripes.

Friday---Limited Supply

Oh yeah....that snow that started last night is continuing this morning. It is snowing hard. They are saying more in coming, but I have lived in Oregon all my life and it very rarely snows more than a couple of inches and its gone within two days.

We were to do a limited supply card for today. Details are HERE.

I made one for this challenge. It was a lot of fun
..

Thursday

Way to use it challenge was so fun..Come up with something for a last minute gift. I decided to make an A-2 Box and fill it with cards for my neighbor. She and her husband are both professional property managers. For what I have seen, she is also a perfectionist as well as a minimalist. When I went into her house I was in awe...it was so neat and perfectly arranged. She is such a sweetheart and she is also a bird lover. So this is what I made.
As I was leaving I noticed it was starting to snow....more to that story on the next post.

week of cards

Wednesday was the card sketch day at SCS. Here is the link to see what everyone else made.
I did make a couple cards for the challenge

Tuesday was a color challenge using baja breeze, basic gray, and kiwi kiss. Here are the two that I made for the day.

December 20, 2008

The snow is falling and it is so beautiful. They are building snowmen on the beaches in Seaside and Astoria Oregon. The gorge winds are starting to howl, by this afternoon the snow could be upwards of 10 inches.

All the Christmas cards that are being mailed are sent....cant get out of the driveway to the Post Office..I wanted to send off a bunch of holiday RAK's but the snow is too deep to get around well...besides I am a real pansy when it comes to driving in the snow.

The family Christmas party in Coos Bay was canceled due to ice and snow. We are hoping to travel down there for Christmas Day festivities.

I will post a few of the cards later.

Stampin' Up! has revised its policy regarding showing of new stamps prior to release to their public, therefore some of the cards that I am currently making with the new sets will be posted later in the day.

In the meantime....please feel free to visit mY gallery at SplitCoastStampers

Have a wonderful day!

Sunday Dec. 14th

Well we spent most of the week getting ready for the trip to Coos Bay for the family Christmas party. Well God had other plans for the family. It started getting colder and then in came the moisture. My Mother in Law called and said that she didnt want anyone to take the risks associated with driving in bad weather. So the Christmas party is off.

As I sit here updating the blog it is 23 degrees with a cold, blowing east wind of about 15 miles per hour with gusts of 35. The wind chill is almost ZERO.

I have made quite a few cards and to see them...please go to my SCS gallery located HERE

Dec. 7, 08

What a fun morning. I met with my friend Anne at the Olive Garden for a wonderful lunch. We talked about the new paper, the new catalog and the retired list for the current catalog which will be posted on December 9th. We are both excited about the new stamp sets that are coming out and cant wait to share them with everyone.

I did make a couple cards today.

The first one is a Martha Stewart Stamp purchased from the local Michaels store. I love this bird.

This next one is a set from a company called Stampscapes.

I used all Stampin' Up! inks to create this image.

Inks: Baja Breezze, Ballet Blue, and Pacific Point

Dec. 6, 08

Here is the challenge link

This cute cow (bossy) is one I got from Cornish Heritage Farms

Dec 5-08

Friday--
Rick got a phone call from a former co-worker and it seems that FORD Corporation came in and locked the doors of the dealership Joes Ford Of Gladstone...It seems as though because of the economy and the management/owner of the business were not making any money (profit). Not sure what this means for all the people that have extended warranties and lifetime Oil changes....only time will tell.

I did make a card Friday as part of the limited supple challenge. We were to use snowflakes only and make it monochromatic.

Thursday, December 4, 2008

December 3-4, 08

Well..I FINISHED ALL MY CHRISTMAS CARDS....Yes they all go in the mail tomorrow.

I have made a few cards over the last few days

I so love this little beaver. His name is Bubs and his home is OUR CRAFT LOUNGE

I am so happy about this new company and the great sets they have.

The color challenge was Black, White and Sahara Sand

The sketch challenge for Tuesday was this: I really like how they turned out.

.

Personal Notes:
We are relaxing and basically just killing time. Hubby and I are planning on going to Coos Bay in about 10 days as he becomes Santa for all the great nieces and nephews.

Rick's mom was able to get moved into her new apartment. It is so wonderful for her as she is now living right next door to her granddaughter CAMBRIA

I need to get a birthday card made and mailed out to my oldest son....I can't believe my baby is going to be 37....

Until later,

Roseanne

Updates--Dec.2nd, 08

It has been a crazy week. I have made a lot of cards, addressed all of my Christmas cards, actually worked on getting a few more boxes emptied, and reconnected with a few old friends.

It is so sad that time marches on and we dont keep in contact with those who are most important in our life. I have called a few friends, let family members know that I care, and spent quality time with others.

My eldest son told me last night, that while he enjoys looking at my work...it would be nice to know just how the family is doing also. With that being said there will be more personal stuff on this blog.

Hubby and I are settling into the new place. Since he was laid off (car sales suck), he has been at home most of the days and I tell you as someone who has been really independent with my daily activities, this is a change.

We still have the place in Milwaukie, but it is still not sold. We had our boat for sale at the local marina that had been in business for over 50 years. We had to go pick up the boat because the MARINA WENT OUT OF BUSINESS!!! All and all we are just sitting back taking it easy. We are both feeling well or at least for the most part.

For card reviews for this week...please go to my gallery located on SplitCoastStampers located
HERE

Please leave comments. I do appreciate knowing what you think..

Have a great day!!!

This is one that I made for a friend of mine. I used the copics to create the background, then I stamped it with Momento Tuxedo Black and added color with more copics. The sewing was done with the Janome sew mini. The sparkle is Dazzling Diamonds affixed with two way glue. Embossing is gold emboss after being stamped in versamark.

This was just a quick one....love that cuddlebug.
